Nothing kills a production day like running out of bottles. Reorder points prevent it.
What a reorder point is
A stock threshold that, when hit, signals it's time to buy more — accounting for how long resupply takes.
A simple formula
Reorder point = (average daily use × lead time in days) + safety stock
Where to set them
- Raw materials — grain, botanicals, yeast
- Packaging — bottles, caps, labels (the usual culprits)
- Anything with a meaningful lead time
Make them visible
A reorder point only helps if it triggers an alert. CaskPilot flags any item at or below its reorder level so you buy before you run out — part of the inventory guide. Track stockouts as a KPI too — see distillery KPIs.
