Where a cask sits affects how it matures — and how easily you can find it. A good warehouse system pays off for years.
Microclimates
Temperature varies within a warehouse. Higher racks are warmer, so spirit there matures faster and loses more to the angel's share. Lower, cooler spots are gentler.
Rotation strategy
Some distilleries rotate casks to even out maturation; others map and blend across positions. Either way, you need to know where every cask is.
Findability
Record each cask's warehouse, row, bay and level. When it's time to bottle, you pull the right cask in minutes, not hours.
Capacity planning
Track fill levels per location to plan space and movements.
CaskPilot includes a visual rickhouse map so you can see fill rates and LAL by location at a glance — see the cask management guide.
